In this lovely season of early Summer when every living thing is full of energy, I wish to welcome all of you, distinguished guests representing over countries, to attend this important forum on the Belt and Road Initiative held in Beijing. This is indeed a gathering of great minds. In the coming two days, I hope that by engaging in full exchanges of views, we will contribute to pursuing the Belt and Road Initiative, a project of the century, so that it will benefit people across the world. Over 2, years ago, our ancestors, trekking across vast steppes and deserts, opened the transcontinental passage connecting Asia, Europe and Africa, known today as the Silk Road. Our ancestors, navigating rough seas, created sea routes linking the East with the West, namely, the maritime Silk Road. These ancient silk routes opened windows of friendly engagement among nations, adding a splendid chapter to the history of human progress. The thousand-year-old “gilt bronze silkworm” displayed at China’s Shaanxi History Museum and the Belitung shipwreck discovered in Indonesia bear witness to this exciting period of history. Spanning thousands of miles and years, the ancient silk routes embody the spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit. Editor’s note: Chinese women who are dating non-Chinese guys often express various issues which displease them — and the issues are mostly due to cultural differences and a lack of understanding. One of our forum readers from Pakistan sent us a list of what he considers the ten most common complaints of Chinese girlfriends. Most foreign boyfriends believe that carrying a handbag of a girlfriend is basically the opposite of manliness.
But this is a very common demand of Chinese girlfriends. Chinese girls usually carry useless and unnecessary stuff in their bags and the reason is only because they want to have a bag so that their boyfriend will carry it for them. The Forum Chinese Restaurant, Congleton
The Forum Chinese is normally my top Chinese out, food is lovely and is the service. However, I can’t explain how frustrating and insulting trying to ring in for a simple takeaway is. When ringing their number no one answered it, and then strangely the number was busy when I tried to call back, because someone was on it. It happens, maybe once.
It doesn’t happen when you try calling for 25 minutes?!

Food is fresh, hot and tasty, staff are wonderful, Cathy and her team are fantastic. A Lockdown takeaway treat. Never left a review in my life but this deserved one. We even rang up afterwards to complement the chef! Arrived to the minute at requested delivery time. We had a wonderful meal here recently to celebrate a family birthday. The owners were so accommodating and did not mind my stream of emails to ask questions or amend our booking.

This meeting is set for May Known collectively as Two Sessions, or lianghui, the gathering is the most important political affair of the year, and a keenly-watched event as Beijing announces its economic growth target and military spending projections during the meetings. This year marks the first time since that the joint parliamentary sessions have deviated from its usual March 3 sitting.
Those coming into Beijing from low-risk provinces will also no longer have to serve a day quarantine. Beijing raised its response level to the most severe on Jan 24, a day after the government imposed a lockdown on the epicentre Wuhan and surrounding cities.
Hubei remains the only province to maintain the highest emergency response level, after Hebei and Tianjin also announced yesterday they were reducing theirs.
